Min: Russia not ready to ban imports of European wine yet
UST-BYUR VILLAGE, republic of Khakasia, Jun 26 (PRIME) -- Russia is not yet ready to ban imports of European wine or confectionery products, as this would negatively affect domestic consumers, Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said Friday.
“We proceed first of all from interests of consumers, because if we “close” wine or confectionery products or something like this, this may have a negative impact first of all on the food supply balance in our country,” he said.
“We do not yet produce wine in an amount necessary to fully meet domestic consumers’ demand,” the minister said.
Crimean wine producers earlier applied to the federal government with a request to limit imports of wine from Europe thus protecting local manufacturers.
